Evolution of Skin Video (Will be Viewed in Class)
WHILE WATCHING
- In your notebook, jot down notes as you watch.
- Each segment describe features that evolved over time that became common and important structures for almost ALL organisms, including us.
- List the feature and describe its current physiology in human skin.
ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- All human structures, including the skin, have been perfected over hundreds of millions of years. The journey to where we are now, had some interesting evolutionary background. Your assignment will be to take that long journey and summarize it. You can do this in really any way you'd like. The most basic version would be a WELL WRITTEN one page summary from your video notes. Some other ideas could be:
- A general timeline showing in order WHEN structures arose, along with an explanation of their physiology.
- A series of drawings or diagrams to depict these important structures.
- A PowerPoint that highlights the anatomical features as well as their current physiology.
This is a 12 point assignment - but if you go above and beyond the minimum of a one page summary, extra credit (up to 3 points) will be rewarded! Creativity encouraged.
