1.2 Preview: Anatomical Directions and Planes Translation 

Throughout the year it will become more and more apparent how important terminology is within this course. This module is designed to give you a head start on some of the most important terms and vocab patterns that will be visited throughout the year. IMPORTANT: The more time you spend making sure that you have mastered these basic terms the more prepared will be for the remainder of the year. Complete the practice using the digital pamphlet below. 

1.2 Lesson:

• Explain in your own words, the importance of consistent language used in A & P. 

• You are welcome to skip slides 3-7 and use the worksheet instead.  

•  The video lesson is highly recommended, especially if you need more explanation! 

Essential Vocab: midsagittal, median, frontal (coronal), transverse, distal, proximal, medial, lateral, superior, inferior, anterior, posterior, oblique, parasagittal, rotation, anatomical position, dorsal, ventral

2.1 - Describe the anatomical position.

2.2 - Use correct anatomical terminology to describe body directions, body regions, and body planes or sections.

2.3 - Locate and name the major body cavities and their subdivisions and associated membranes, and list the major organs contained within them.

2.4 - Name the four quadrants or nine regions of the abdominopelvic cavity and list the organs they contain.
